Cost – £27.99 (March 2025)
Parking and Access – There is on street parking on the road outside the tearooms.

The toilets are inside the building, so access is via a step.
Background – This Afternoon Tea was booked for us by my sister, as a birthday treat.
Contents per person – Six rectangular sandwiches (one and a half each of cheese and onion, ham and redcurrant, egg and cress, cucumber and mint), and a small piece of sausage roll. A small plain scone, a small dish of strawberry jam and a small dish of clotted cream. A tiny tartlette each, a square of chocolate brownie each, plus one square of carrot cake, and one square of pink topped cake between the two of us. A pot of tea.
Options Available – There are no options available for this Afternoon Tea.
Comments – The Brewery Tearooms are situated on the High Street in the village of Walkern, opposite the primary school. The building is part of an old brewery house, the rest of the building being a private house.
We were shown to a table at the rear of the tearooms, next to the hatch for the kitchen area.

The table was laid with mismatched vintage china, a small knife and a cake fork each, and a paper napkin.
There was a choice of many teas, but we all chose our usual English Breakfast tea. This arrived in a large red teapot, accompanied by a pretty vintage milk jug.
The tea was a bit strong for us, so after a cup each, we asked if it could be topped up with just hot water.
The Afternoon Tea arrived soon after the tea, served on a pretty three tier cake stand with pretty round vintage glass plates.

The sandwiches were well filled and were tasty. They had been freshly made. There was also a small piece of, very tasty, sausage roll each.

The scone was small, but had been warmed up and was fresh. There was enough strawberry jam for the two of us, as there was only one scone each. There was plenty of clotted cream.

Regular readers will know that I get really annoyed when there is not the same cakes for the two of us. There was a tartlette each, and a piece of brownie each. But, then there were two pieces of different cakes, just one piece of each. Luckily, the cakes were just big enough to cut in half, so we could each have a piece of each cake.

The cakes were fresh and tasty, but rather on the small side.
Service was very friendly and reasonably attentive.
