Cost – Approx £25 for four (Apr 2014)
Background – We revisited The Elveden Inn a month later having been so impressed by the tea on the first occasion. We felt we had a duty to ensure it wasn’t a one off!!
On this occasion there were four of us in the party and we booked ahead.
Contents – At least 8 finger sandwiches each!! (smoked salmon with cream cheese, ham and piccalilli, cheese and pickle, chicken, prawn), 1 massive fruit scone, a tiny pot of strawberry jam, a smallish pot of clotted cream, an Eton Mess dessert, Small piece of blueberry cheesecake, a small piece of tarte au citron, a smallish piece of sponge cake, a refillable pot of tea (bags).
Comments – The tea was still just as massive but the content was different. As before it was served on a three tier wooden cake stand but this time there was a large platter of sandwiches which was served separately.
The sandwiches were, again, well filled and fresh and there was a good mix of brown and white bread.
The scone was similar to the previous visit and there was still not enough jam and clotted cream for the size of the scone.
The slices of cake were of a good size and delicious. The variety of cakes and desserts was again excellent. Tea was in a pot and was bags.
Once again the tea that defeated me and I couldn’t finish it!! Still excellent value!
Unfortunately, as mentioned previously, this afternoon tea is no longer available.
