Background – Elveden Forest Center Parcs is situated in beautiful woodlands from the Elveden estate on the Suffolk borders near the towns of Thetford and Brandon. The Foresters Restaurant is situated in the Country Club area of the site near to the small golf course. It is a pleasant place to eat with a more formal eating area and a more relaxed area with a large bar where meals can be taken or where people can sit and relax.
My apologies for the poor photos, the light was bad as it was quite dark when we had our Tea and I was taking the picture using an old phone which could not cope with the low light.
Contents – 6 finger sandwiches (2 each of smoked salmon, ham and mustard, and egg mayonnaise). 1 large fruit scone, a dish each of strawberry jam and clotted cream. A slice of chocolate brownie, a slice of ginger cake, a macaroon, a round piece of Victoria sponge and a small Eton mess. Tea was made with tea bags.
Comments – A table had been specially pre-laid for us with a flowery plastic tablecloth and flowery china. We were brought a large blue teapot between us plus a jug of milk.
The rest of the tea was presented on a three tier cake stand with pretty flowery plates. We had a stand each.
The sandwiches were fresh and were well filled. I am not keen on mustard but had forgotten to mention this when booking so we worked around this when sharing the sandwiches.
The cakes were very tasty with moist sponge for the cakes. They were also fresh. I particularly enjoyed the Eton mess which was a tasty addition. All items were of a good size.
The scone was quite large but was not too dry. The strawberry jam was on the small side for the scone and there was also not enough clotted cream. However, I was so full with the sandwiches and cake by this time that I only managed half of my scone. I was offered the last half to take away but declined.
The tea was of good strength and was hot. There was enough for two good cups each. There was a choice of teas available and we didn’t try to obtain a refill of the pot.
